CHARACTERISTICS OF MUSCLE

There are around 640 skeletal muscles within the typical human body

Muscle is a soft tissue and they contain protein filaments.

Actin and Myosin    that slide past one another, producing a contraction that changes both the length and the shape of the cell.

Actin

is a family of globular multi-functional proteins that form microfilaments.

Myosin

are a superfamily of motor proteins best known for their roles in muscle contraction

Muscle tissues are derived from the meso dermal layer of embryonic germ cells in a process known as myogenesis.

Myogenesis is the formation of muscular tissue.

germ layer is a primary layer of cells that forms during embryonic development.

The mesoderm is one of the three primary germ layers in the very early embryo

The other two layers are the ectoderm (outside layer) and endoderm (inside layer), with the mesoderm as the middle layer between them.
