CELL THEORY








**There were three scientists who gave cell theory.

**MATTHIAS SCHLEIDEN in 1838
 THEODORE SCHWANN in 1839 

**RUDOLF VIRCHOW MODIFIED THE CELL THEORY in 1855.



Now, let us understand what is cell theory is all about.

***Matthias schleiden, a German botanist, did research on most of the variety of plants or we can say large number of plants.

He was observed from his research that all plants are composed of different kind of CELLS and we all know that group of cells called tissue and he observed different kind of cells which form the Tissue of the plant.

Important is different kind of cells that form Tissue.



***Theodore schwann, a British zoologist, research about large number of animals and he also did research on plants also.

He found outer thin layer in animal cells and we call it "PLASMA MEMBRANE".

He found "CELL WALL" in plants cells and said the unique feature in plants.


On these basis, he said that all the bodies of plants and animals are made up of cells and product of cells.



After conclusion, schleiden and Schwann formulated CELL THOERY.

Important thing is they formulated that all the plants and animals bodies composed of cells and products of cells BUT they did not explain how the new cells are formed.



Later in 1855, RUDOLF VIRCHOW, he explained that 

CELLS DIVIDE AND NEW CELLS ARE ARISES FROM PRE EXISTING CELLS.

Now, combine Schleiden,Shwann and Virchow gave a final shape to Cell theory.



NEED TO REMEMBER

1. ALL LIVING ORGANISM ARE COMPOSED OF CELLS AND PRODUCTS OF CELLS.

2. ALL NEW CELLS ARISES FROM PRE EXISTING CELLS.


This is all about CELL THEORY.
