METABOLISM--- sum total of all the chemical reaction that are taking place in the living beings.


ANABOLISM---sum total of useful or constructive activities in the body.


CATABOLISM--- sum total of harmful or destructive activities in the body which results in the formation of poisonous substances in the body.



BIOSPHERE---portion of the universe that supports life.


HOMEOSTASIS---ability of the living organism to maintain the internalenvironment constant so that chemical reaction in their cells may take place without interruption inspite of changes in the external environment.


AMNIOCENTESIS---technique which is used to determine sex as also to diagnose any chromosomal and biochemical abnormalities.
